The most popular destination during the New Year holidays was the route between the two capitals – Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Analysts of the travel service Tutu.ru found out which destinations became the most popular among Russians before the New Year. Where the largest number of train tickets were sold for December 2022 and the first ten days of January 2023.
About 96% of rail journeys are planned within the country. The numbers were about the same last year. The average cost for a ticket is 2,278 rubles one way.
Most domestic rail travel is planned between the two capitals. The share of ticket purchases between Moscow and St. Petersburg was 9.2%.
