According to bourgas.ru, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko gave an interview to Euronews Bulgaria, in which he called Bulgaria’s position on Ukraine cowardly. He also believes that the economic and political destabilization of Ukraine will affect the economy of Bulgaria.

Together we are stronger. This is a cowardly position. All European countries unite, all democracies unite in defense of peace. The neutral status of Ukraine was our biggest mistake. In 1994 we were the third nuclear power in the world.

We handed over our nuclear weapons in good faith and Russia was one of the countries that guaranteed the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine.

We witnessed the annexation of Crimea and the Russians said they had nothing to do with it. It was a lie. Claims that there were no Russian troops in Donetsk and Lugansk were also lies. But we all knew that Donetsk and Luhansk were funded by the deployment of weapons and propaganda. Until the last moment, we did not believe that Russia would invade Ukraine. But she attacked us. Today we also hear lies about a special operation to denazify Ukraine. If you believe Russia’s promises not to attack anyone, you need to know that this is also a lie.

We are already hearing voices from the Kremlin for the return of the Baltic States, and I am sure that at some fine moment such voices will be heard in relation to Bulgaria.

That is why the task of ending the war is a common one. We need joint efforts, economic sanctions and military assistance, and we are ready to fight and defend ourselves. Once again, we are not just protecting our children and our future. We are defending the whole of Europe against this aggressive policy, against the policy of the aggressor.
