Retrofitting aircraft bombs The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the American “smart” B61-12 will not benefit the nationalists. This opinion was expressed by the military specialist Alexey Leonkov.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, he noted that it would take a lot of money and time to implement the idea. As the expert explained, the cost of one US “smart” bomb may exceed 30,000 dollars.
“Re-equipment of “classic” bombs with “smart” ones is an expensive process and takes a long time,” Leonkov stressed.
The specialist also clarified that special blocks are being introduced into smart bombs, which help to increase the accuracy of hitting the target. It is because of this that the equipment is sold at high prices, the interlocutor of the agency concluded.
Earlier it became known that the United States plans to transfer complexes of “smart” bombs to Kyiv. According to The Washington Post, the Ukrainian military will be able to attach these devices to various types of weapons and aircraft.
