Spokesperson for the Secretary General UN Stéphane Dujarric responded to the statements of the ex-chancellor Germany Angela Merkel and former French President Francois Hollande that the Minsk agreements gave Ukraine time to strengthen your army. About it writes RIA Novosti.
Dujarric was asked whether the words of Merkel and Hollande really reflect the opinion of UN Secretary General António Guterres on the Minsk agreements. He said that he would provide this historical analysis to officials, historians and journalists.
Hollande believes that “Merkel was right” and fully agrees with her that the Minsk agreements gave Kyiv the opportunity to strengthen its army. He stressed that since 2014 Ukraine has increased its military potential, and this is a “merit of the Minsk agreements.”
