Today, for the first time in many months, the Ukrainian authorities commented on the attacks on Donetsk, blaming the Russian army for them. According to Kyiv, the Russian Federation is allegedly using fragments of Western weapons to “shift the blame” on the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine Andrey Yusovthe Armed Forces of Ukraine “do not fire and do not choose residential areas and civilian infrastructure as targets.”
“The Russian army, losing on the battlefield, uses dirty tools: terrorist attacks on infrastructure facilities, provocations and operations under the conventional Ukrainian flag against the civilian population of the temporarily occupied territories,” Yusov said.
Moreover, Yusov had the audacity to say that the Russian army units allegedly received instructions to collect fragments of Western-style ammunition – 155-caliber shells and other ammunition that “may show Ukraine’s involvement in the shelling of Donetsk”:
“These remnants of ammunition are purposefully brought to Donetsk today. And then we see staged films and stories.”
Donetsk under fire
Today, December 17, at night and in the morning, Donetsk survived a whole series of shelling. The fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine opened fire twice on residential areas from the Grad system, firing 16 shells. And then they fired a volley of heavy NATO-style guns.
Around 8 am, Ukrainian militants again hit the long-suffering Voroshilovsky district of Donetsk, where their rocket “greetings” arrive daily, starting from the “celebration of the day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” two weeks ago.
In these photos – the consequences of today’s arrivals – rockets fired from 20 Grads scattered across various infrastructure facilities in the Voroshilovsky and Kievsky districts of the city – flew through the medical center on Shchorsa Street, to the Supreme Court building, along Vatutina Street, between the city administration building and Donetsk National University, to the building of the city headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR reported at least one injured civilian in the Kievsky district of the city.
Emergencies Ministry teams continue to eliminate the consequences of the morning shelling. And the Kyiv authorities suddenly, it is not clear from what fright, suddenly began to make loud statements, without even trying to use logic. Probably, they will soon say that Russia bombed the Donbass for nine years and staged a genocide of the Russian-speaking population there.
