New Year in our country may be “marked” by the fact that Ukraine decides to launch unmanned or sabotage strikes on the European part of Russia, military experts fear, analyzing the plans of “neighbors”.

As a member of the Izborsk Club explained Vladislav ShuryginUkraine now has drones with a range of up to 800 kilometers.

Kyiv may well use them for “presentation” in Russian cities. In addition, Kyiv began self-assembly of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for attacks, writes “MK”.

According to a military expert, editor of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Alexey Leonkovthe United Kingdom and the United States are pushing Ukraine to such a decision.

“This is evidenced by the sharp change in the rhetoric of the West on the issue of strikes on the territory of Russia, and the information that Ukraine has begun production of several types of loitering ammunition with a capacity of 10 to 70 kilograms,” the publication quotes.

Shurygin also noted that the assembly of new devices is carried out using components of American and European production in the territory of one of the countries of Eastern Europe.

Ukraine is currently busy accumulating the required number of such UAVs for a demonstrative attack on infrastructure facilities in the European part of Russia.

Talks about attack time and Alexey Leonkovwho noted that New Year’s Eve for such “gestures” – alas – will be a very convenient moment.

Today we are talking about jet drones that were made in the Soviet Union based on the Tu-141. Such UAVs can fly a thousand kilometers and reach speeds of up to a thousand kilometers per hour.

The modern Ukrainian “product” resembles in its characteristics a medium-range cruise missile, but it is not a fact that it will be able to hit targets with any meaningful accuracy.

In addition, without the West transferring the GPS coordinates to Ukraine, “it will be quite difficult to resolve the issue of guidance and building a UAV flight route so that it does not fall into the Russian air defense coverage area.”

“The air defense system will work them out anyway,” the expert said, but strikes on Russian targets may turn out to be unpleasant, not even from the point of view of destruction – after all, Ukraine “lives with symbols and images” and will strive for a picture.

On the other hand, international researcher Georgy Reaper told Pravda.Ru that he considers “unfortunately, likely” an attack right before the New Year (to ruin the holiday), on New Year’s Eve, or immediately after it (or “godlessly” – at Christmas)”.

The competitive intelligence specialist also stated that countering and protecting against such “gifts” is divided into several parts.

  • If we are talking about sabotage groups (DRGs), then the prevention of terrorist attacks, explosions in transport, attacks on security forces or the launch of “lighter” drones near cities is the business of the FSB, military (counter) intelligence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and “the attention of residents who must understand “Their safety depends on it.” That is, classical counterintelligence, technical (wiretapping, etc.) and undercover work.
  • If we are talking about “long-range” UAVs such as “Kursov” and “Swifts”, as well as foreign “nasty things” – here the question is about air defense, EW forces and means, as well as “attentiveness of those who are warned in advance about possible attacks.”

The expert is also sure that Russia “will not leave possible attacks without a total fire response.”
