German diplomat Wolfgang Ischinger shared his opinion that Ukraine not accepted in North Atlantic Treaty Organization due to the fact that the country does not meet the mandatory criteria.

From his point of view, it follows that in order to evaluate the application in the normal mode, one should remember the three main and most important requirements that apply in similar situations earlier.

“There were three questions: is the country in question united in its desire to join NATO, or will potential membership lead to an internal split? Are all members of the alliance in favor of granting membership? And will the entry of the country in question strengthen European security and stability in general? ”The French publication Politico quotes the text of his statement.

He noted that this issue led to serious controversy at the meeting held more than 15 years ago. In this, he saw the answer to the question of why the organization still does not have a fully formed position on the application received from Kyiv.

Recall that a specialist in the field of political science Rostislav Ishchenko made a statement that the side that wins in the global confrontation between the Russian Federation and the Western establishment will be identified in the framework of the Ukrainian conflict.

He spoke of his concerns about the fact that each side has no plans for how to deal with Ukraine in the future, and noted that the state has become a place where a global armed conflict is developing. More about it read in material Public News Service.
