Ukraine announced an impending population decline


Director of the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after M. Ptukha Ella Libanova said that by 2033 the population Ukraine will range from 26 to 35 million people. Her words leads “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“Will be bad. Much worse than anyone can imagine. The variation of the forecast for 2033—we made it for ten years—from 26 to 35 million within the boundaries of 1991,” the expert notes.

According to Libanova, there is no talk of returning to 45 million inhabitants. She cites population aging, losses due to low birth rates, premature male mortality and mass migration as reasons for the decline.

Previously expert reportedthat no more than half of the refugees who went abroad will return to Ukraine after the start of a special military operation.
