United States and the Republic of Korea are working out options for countermeasures, including in the event of a possible nuclear strike from Pyongyang. This statement was made by the head of the press service of the US administration, Karine Jean-Pierre.
The US authorities said that they have not yet discussed with South Korea the possibility of conducting joint exercises involving US nuclear forces. The American side emphasizes that the Republic of Korea does not have nuclear weapons. The White House press secretary recalled the meeting between President Joe Biden and his South Korean counterpart Yun Seok Yel, which took place in Cambodia in November last year.
“They have instructed their teams to plan an effective coordinated response to a number of scenarios, including the use of nuclear weapons by North Korea,” said Jean-Pierre.
It was previously reported that a North Korean unmanned aerial vehicle last month entered the no-fly zone around the administration building of the head of the Republic of Korea in downtown Seoul. More on the topic read in material Public news service.
