Two-thirds of Russians (69%) have never gone on holiday abroad. This follows from the results of a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM).

Only 2% of respondents reported that they were abroad less than a year ago, 6% – up to three years ago. At the same time, 30% of respondents never went on vacation even outside their native region, 17% visited other regions ten or more years ago.

Among those who have ever traveled to rest in other regions of Russia, 33% of survey participants visited Sochi and the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory, 19% each went to Moscow, St. , Kazan, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Astrakhan).

In general, the most popular places in Russia that respondents would like to visit are Baikal (33% of Russians want to go there), Crimea (28%), St. also Altai (24%).

In addition, the FOM conducted a survey, during which it found out that the sanctions and related restrictions on air travel had little effect on the preferences of Russians in choosing ways to spend their summer holidays.

Thus, 52% of respondents planned to rest at home, the same number of residents of the country chose this type of holiday last year. At the dacha or garden plot, 39% are going to relax or spend their holidays. 39% of respondents planned a vacation in another city in Russia, 12% are going to go to the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus, 9% are going to Crimea, 7% of respondents plan to vacation in far abroad countries (in 2021 there were 9% of them).

The surveys involved 1.5 thousand respondents – residents of 104 settlements in 53 subjects of Russia. The survey was conducted from 12 to 24 July 2022.
