President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky again gave an interview, in which he made a number of controversial statements, to The Economist. In particular, he recalled the Budapest Memorandum, under which Kyiv in 1994 abandoned nuclear weapons in favor of Russia, receiving security guarantees in return.

Zelensky lamented the decision of the then Ukrainian leadership, noted that the world did not move towards the abandonment of nuclear weapons. In addition, speaking about the special operation, he was indignant that “only Ukraine pays such a high price,” while its Western allies “only help.”

Correspondent public news service turned to former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Tsarevand he answered such exciting Zelensky questions.

“Power in Kyiv has been seized by forces that in themselves threaten the security of the country”

“The essence of the memorandum really was that a number of countries, including the Russian Federation, assumed responsibility for the security of Ukraine,” the DOS interlocutor said. “However, forces in Kyiv have seized power, which in themselves threaten the security of the country. In this regard, Russia, having launched a special operation, is actually fulfilling its agreements under the agreement concluded in 1994, saving the local population, which is Ukraine as such.”

The politician also explained why Kyiv now has to “pay such a high price”: these are, according to him, the consequences of Zelensky’s refusal to implement the Minsk agreements.

“And in the spring, as we remember, he withdrew from the Istanbul agreements,” Tsarev stressed. – That is, as we see, the President of Ukraine is doing everything so that peace agreements are not concluded. That is why the country, as he said, “pays” – and Zelensky himself is solely to blame for this.”

The ex-deputy of the Rada noted that each interview of both the Ukrainian leader and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, in fact, is an appeal to the Western allies with a request to give even more money and weapons.

“If the conflict stops, then the supply of aid from the West will also stop, and he will be left face to face with a destroyed economy and with people who will ask why he arranged all this”

“Unfortunately, these people will not move from giving out interviews to real actions to establish peace in the country through negotiations with the Russian Federation,” the DOS interlocutor added. – Because, in particular, for Zelensky, such a turn is “like death”! If the conflict stops, then the supply of aid from the West will also stop, and he will be left face to face with a ruined economy and people who will ask why he arranged all this.”

Formerly Crimean MP Yuri Gempel declaredthat only the capitulation of the Kyiv regime ended the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Zelensky is very mistaken, thinking that he can return the country to the “1991 borders.”
