According to bourgas.ru, the weekly report from the Football Observatory, which is based in Switzerland and analyzes and draws trends based on rigorous statistics, shows that there are currently only 50 Bulgarian football players who play in foreign championships.

In a survey among 80 countries, Bulgaria ranks an unenviable 62nd place, as our players abroad have decreased by 9 in the last 5 years, a decrease of 15%.

It is also alarming that there are almost no Bulgarians in the elite Top 5 championships, since now only defender Petko Hristov plays in the Italian elite Spezia, and Ilya Gruev Jr. is about to return to the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.

In the first place in terms of football exports, it is logical Brazil, which has 1219 players scattered around the world. In second place is France with 978 players and third is Argentina with 815 players abroad. Rounding out the top five are England with 525 players and Germany with 441 players.

Interestingly, the top ten also included Colombia (425 players), Spain (409), Croatia (400), neighboring Serbia (379) and the Netherlands (367).

Football players from other Balkan countries are also much more valued abroad than Bulgarians: Bosnia and Herzegovina has 180 players abroad, Greece has 115, Slovenia has 113, Montenegro has 93, and the Republic of North Macedonia has 92.

We are at the bottom of the ranking, in the companies of Belarus, Costa Rica, Morocco, Moldova and Jamaica. Peru, Zambia and Uzbekistan close the rating.
