Almost 8,000 tons of water contaminated with radioactive waste entered the sea during the third stage of liquid discharge from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant (NPP) in Japan. About it reported operating company TEPCO.
“Tokyo Electric Power announced the completion of the third stage of discharging treated water accumulated at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the sea, which began on November 2,” the statement said. The operator clarified that a total of 7.8 thousand tons of water were discharged from 10 reservoirs, the procedure went without any problems.
TEPCO plans to begin the fourth stage of water discharge from the nuclear power plant after the New Year. In total, 31.2 thousand tons of water are expected to be released into the sea.
Japan started to reset water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean in August. The second discharge took place in October, the third – in early November. The Japanese side claims that the water that cooled the station’s reactors has been completely cleared of radioactive particles. However, in China considerthat water from nuclear power plants is contaminated and will negatively affect the health of all humanity.
