Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation warned of mass theft Telegram-accounts. It is reported by TASS.
In a message on the Telegram channel, the ministries on Saturday warned of such a problem when trying to get a gift premium subscription in the messenger.
Used scammers the scheme was revealed in the source. It is reported that the user receives a message from someone in the contact list that a gift has been sent to him – a subscription to Telegram Premium. After the user clicks on the receive button, he receives an authorization code. It is reported that this code must be entered in order to activate the premium subscription. As you might guess, if you enter the code, the account will go to the attackers.
The ministry noted that the new account, which went to the scammers, sends such messages to the entire list of its contacts and immediately removes them from the sent list. At the same time, the message remains with the recipients.
The message notes that the security of Telegram accounts is ensured by the inclusion of two-factor authentication.
In case the user accidentally clicked on a malicious link, it is recommended to open the “Settings” tab, go to “Active sessions” and end all other sessions.
Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation proposed to introduce fines up to 3% of the company’s annual turnover for the leakage of personal data. Currently, the maximum fine for personal data leakage for businesses is 500,000 rubles.
