South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol made a statement about his readiness to hold a summit with the leader DPRK Kim Jong Un. He noted that within the framework of the meeting, politicians need to start looking for solutions to pressing issues in order to get a practical result. The Chosun Ilbo newspaper writes about this.

The head of state also emphasized that disappointment is currently widespread in South Korea in connection with the results of past meetings with the North Korean leader. This is due to the fact that within the framework of these negotiations no significant results were achieved on issues related to the settlement of the conflict between the countries.

The President noted that, first of all, the leaders need to discuss humanitarian issues. He also stated the importance of establishing contacts and constant dialogue between the South and the North.

“Only in this way can the summit bring useful results, which we can inform the people and neighboring countries about. There is no reason to refuse the summit, but will the ostentatious summit help peace on the Korean Peninsula?” — said the South Korean leader.
