The President of Georgia called the ex-Prime Minister the only oligarch in the country

The president Georgia Salome Zurabishvili named the ex-prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili the only oligarch in Georgia. She’s talking about this stated in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde.

According to the president, she cannot know the extent of the former prime minister’s interference in the country’s economy. At the same time, the head of state notes that he has a dominant influence on current government officials.

“The answer to de-oligarchization, I think, lies in the upcoming elections. We have been in a one-party system of government for thirty years. Deoligarchization means that we need as free elections as possible, with a real coalition, with a pro-European front,” states Zurabishvili.

In addition, the Georgian president accused Ivanishvili of sympathizing with Russia. She said that the ex-prime minister “cannot imagine that Russia will be defeated” and is trying to adapt to its victory in advance. The leader of the republic also notes that the businessman plays a negative role on Georgia’s path to European Union.

Earlier, in an interview with the French TV channel LCI, Zurabishvili condemned the policy of the Chinese Secretary General Xi Jinping. Regret about this incident expressed Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili at a meeting with the ambassador People’s Republic of China.
