The number of Russians on the list of people banned from traveling abroad due to debts reached 8 million people by the New Year. As TASS was told in the press service of the Federal Bailiffs Service of the Russian Federation, these are the highest figures in 15 years.

Just a year ago, travel restrictions in the framework of enforcement proceedings were in force against 4.6 million Russians. At the same time, the FSSP announced that such dynamics will continue and the number of debtors will grow in 2023.

10 years ago, there were 300,000 people on the travel lists, in 2016 – about 1 million, in December 2019 – 3.4 million. By the beginning of summer 2022 travel restrictions were 5.5 million Russian citizens.

Last year marked the 15th anniversary of the application of the rule prohibiting debtors from traveling abroad. Until 2008, bailiffs also had the right to restrict travel abroad, but only in cases of alimony arrears.

Currently, most often the travel ban is applied to debtors for alimony, loan payments and housing and communal services debts.
