MIA Belarus on Sunday, January 1, reported on the situation in the republic on New Year’s Eve from December 31 to January 1. According to the agency, there were no incidents in the country.
“The operational situation in the country was under control, no emergencies and incidents were allowed at the venues of mass events,” the message says.
It is specified that mass festivities took place at 1,580 festive venues.
The department also thanked the guests and local residents “for their understanding and cultural behavior.”
Earlier, the Public News Service reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented the country’s TV journalists with unexpected gift. Reporters from one of the TV shows came to visit Lukashenka, who gave a tour of his private courtyard. During the visit, journalists were shown the territory of the estate and allowed to milk a cow, after which Lukashenka talked to reporters and presented his New Year present to the girls from the film crew.
