In the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society and human rights (HRC RF) called UN and OSCE intervene in the situation with the detention of Marat Kasem. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The Russian Human Rights Council called the charges against Sputnik Lithuania editor-in-chief Marat Kasem far-fetched, the source said.

Recall that the journalist and editor-in-chief of Sputnik Lithuania Marata Kasem was detained in Latvia, where he arrived on family business. Then the journalist was transferred to the Riga Central Prison. It was reported that Marat Kasem is a citizen of Latvia. The journalist has been living and working in Moscow for several years in the Rossiya Segodnya media group, which also includes Sputnik Lithuania.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatyana Moskalkova commented on the arrest of the editor-in-chief of the Lithuanian branch of Sputnik.
