Yesterday, May 6, Rostov hosted the traditional ceremony of laying a garland of Glory at the Eternal Flame on Theater Square, dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory. The delegation of Taganrog at the event was represented by the head of the city administration Mikhail Solonitsin and representatives of the city council of war and labor veterans, the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies.
About a thousand people took part in the solemn ceremony. Among them are the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, Heroes of Russia, honorary citizens of the region, deputies of the State Duma, representatives of the Council of Veterans, the government, the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region, federal departments, the Southern Military District, religious communities, cities and regions of the Don. The head of the Don region noted that every inch of the reclaimed land cost our people huge losses and hardships. Residents of the Rostov region remember and are proud of the heroism of the defenders who fought for the liberation of the Don cities, villages, farms.
The participants laid a garland of Glory and fresh flowers at the memorial “To the Soldiers-Liberators of the City of Rostov-on-Don from Nazi Invaders”. The memory of the fallen heroes was honored with a minute of silence.
At the end of the celebration, a festive concert was held at the Rostov State Musical Theater, in which Taganrog creative teams took part.
