On May 14, in the Untsukulsky district of Dagestan, the first major event of the environmental campaign “Water of Russia” was held this year. Volunteers cleared the banks of the Avar Koisu River from debris.
It should be noted that the All-Russian Volunteer Ecological Shore Cleaning Action “Water of Russia” has been held within the framework of the national project “Ecology” by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation for the 9th year in a row.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Nariman Abdulmutalibov, Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Water Resources, Environmental Economics and Federal Property Management Roman Minukhin, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic of Dagestan Ibrahim Ibragimovhead of the Untsukulsky district Isa NurmagomedovDirector of the Center for the Development of the Water Management Complex of the Russian Federation Ilya Razbashactress and TV presenter Julia Mikhalkova.
Welcoming the participants, Deputy Prime Minister Nariman Abdulmutalibov noted the relevance of the topic of ecology for Dagestanis:
“Dagestan is gaining great popularity in the field of tourism, so the topic of ecology is becoming more and more relevant for us. The region is located along the Caspian Sea, more than 4,000 different rivers flow here, so cleanliness and careful attitude to water resources are very important for us. This action will serve to form a respectful attitude towards nature and, in particular, water resources. It will make us, the inhabitants of Dagestan, think about the need to respect natural resources, about the need to love our native land. I thank all the participants and organizers for your contribution to the preservation of the ecology of our region”noted Abdulmutalibov.
Roman Minukhin spoke about the experience of holding this action in previous years. According to him, in 2021 alone, more than 1.1 million volunteers took part in the Water of Russia eco-subbotniks. The geography of the project is constantly expanding, attracting more and more participants. All 85 regions of Russia joined the action. Volunteers cleaned up 10,300 reservoirs, and the amount of garbage collected exceeds 638,000 m³ – this volume can accommodate 67,160 KAMAZ trucks.
“It is very nice to hold actions in such picturesque places. Today we will help our water cannons become cleaner. Our concern for rivers, lakes, reservoirs, banks is a very significant contribution.”– addressed Minukhin.
According to Ibragim Ibragimova, the same events are currently taking place in three more places – at the Gunibsky and Goyktlinsky hydroelectric power stations and the Cherkeysky reservoir. He noted that the main goal of the action is not just to collect garbage, but to inculcate respect for nature.
“If we behave culturally, if there is cleanliness around us, then garbage will not accumulate along the coast of water resources. The most important thing is that you all convey a piece of this culture to your children, relatives and friends. Everything must begin with self-education. We hide garbage where no one sees it, but nature makes it so that sooner or later everything goes to the banks of rivers and lakes. Therefore, purity must begin with us, with the purity of our heart.“, the minister said.
District head Isa Nurmagomedov also urged people to respect nature.
The actress also performed Julia Mikhalkova: “I am very glad to see each of you, beautiful girls, charming men, thank you very much for coming today to express your love for nature.
There are very beautiful places in your region that are becoming an attraction for tourists. Today our task is to set an example for some unkind tourists who take away very tasty salted fish, but leave bags of garbage here. If they took away bags of garbage, then this would be the cleanest beach. Shall we set an example?” she asked.
The participants of the subbotnik were representatives of public organizations, employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Dagestan, Rosvodresurs, educational institutions and administrations of the Untsukulsky, Akushinsky, Levashinsky, Laksky, Gergebilsky districts, schoolchildren and local residents. They divided into groups of 10 for team garbage collection.
Garbage was sorted into four categories – plastic, glass, metal and household waste. After the cleaning was completed, the results were summed up with the measurement of the volume of garbage collected.
Then the participants were fed pilaf from the Untsukul chef and held a concert with performances by local artists.
