The action “Candle of memory” was held in the Alexander Nevsky district

On June 22, on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, at exactly 4 o’clock in the morning in the Park of Heroes, Alexandronevites, together with the whole country, lit candles in memory of Soviet soldiers who repelled the perfidious attack of Nazi Germany 81 years ago. Residents of the district honored the memory of more than four thousand of their fellow countrymen who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.

“The memory of the bloodiest war in the history of mankind lives and is passed down through generations. But even decades later, the names of the heroes-liberators return. Next week, a solemn reburial of the remains of Mikhail Alekseevich Efanov, who was listed as missing, will take place. This is already our third countryman, whose name has been established thanks to the work of search organizations,” said the deputy head of the district administration. Tatyana Gushchina.

Representatives of the older generation spoke about the merciless and destructive cruelty of the war, about the price paid by the Russian people for the Victory, and the need to remember the lessons of history – the chairman of the regional Council of Veterans Valentina Vasilievna Shashkova and labor veteran Nina Ilyinichna Polikarpova.

Yunarmee Ilya Demekhin, on behalf of the younger generation, promised to honorably keep watch in memory of the victors of fascism, in word and deed to prove devotion to the historical past of his country.

The commemorative event ended with a minute of silence and the laying of flowers at the central monument of the Park of Heroes.
