The self-proclaimed Republic of China, inspired by the operation of the satellite the Internet Starlink on Ukraineintends to develop its own satellite communications provider. This information is shared by the Financial Times, citing unnamed sources.
According to media reports, Taiwan is in talks with several domestic and international investors. He plans to send the money received to the project of his own space agency TASA.
“We are going to turn our satellite communication project in low Earth orbit into a company,” a spokesman for the agency said.
As the head of the Ministry of Digital Technologies Audrey Tan noted, Taiwan is watching the allegedly successful use of Starlink on the territory of Ukraine. The agency’s first concern is to ensure communication with media personnel and viewers abroad, even in the face of a “large-scale disaster.” At the same time, the ministry believes that it will take several years before TASA is put into operation.
