The Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET), which is part of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), has put into commercial operation a new production area for a pipe end upsetting press, which will increase the range and output of drill pipes.
Thanks to the new equipment, the company can produce drill pipe ends with the length of the internal transition zone of the upset part of 170 mm instead of the previous 125 mm. Mastering the new design of upset ends makes it possible to produce drill pipes that meet the modern requirements of TMK’s internal standard and international standards.
The new press will complement TAGMET’s equipment fleet for upsetting pipe ends – this operation is carried out at the enterprise’s pipe rolling shop on two more units, the press service of TAGMET reports.
- The launch of the press was the next stage of a large-scale project for the technical re-equipment of the finishing part of the TAGMET pipe-rolling shop. The modernization allowed the plant to master a new range of drill pipes that meets the most stringent technical requirements and increase productivity. This will be a significant contribution of TAGMET to the implementation of the production program of TMK, – said Sergey Bilan, Managing Director of TAGMET.
