Deputy State Duma Yaroslav Nilov spoke about the proposal to raise student scholarships to the minimum wage (SMIC). It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The corresponding bill will be submitted to the lower house of parliament this year.

“The initiative will be finalized and introduced so that the funds are included in the draft federal budget for next year,” he said.

“Scholarships should, first of all, stimulate students “in their own size”. The minimum should be the minimum wage or the subsistence level established by the regions.”

Recall that from January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Russia is 16,242 rubles.
