The special forces of the Russian troops prevented an attempt to escape prisoners from the women’s colony No. 107 in Mariupol, which was abandoned by the Ukrainian authorities. RIA Novosti was told about this by the senior inspector of the correctional institution. He said that the events took place in March.
According to the inspector, the prisoners were planning an escape before the arrival of Russian troops. Only 8-12 convicts were going to escape.
During the hostilities in the city, 29 people escaped from the colony, not all of them were later found, the source said.
The situation normalized, according to the inspector, only after the establishment of control of Russian forces in Mariupol.
