South Korea and the United States of America are discussing a possible joint exercise using US nuclear forces. The corresponding statement was made by the President of South Korea, Yun Sok-yeol, in an interview with the Chosun Ilbo newspaper.

The politician said that representatives of the two states are negotiating, in which they are engaged in joint planning of exercises.

“Nuclear weapons belong USAbut South Korea and the United States should share information, plan and conduct exercises together,” the leader of the country specified.

He specified that the US and South Korean authorities could make such a decision as part of countering the nuclear threat from the DPRK. Yun Sok-yeol stressed that the exercise is planned to be aimed at working out a more effective implementation of extended deterrence by the United States.

Concluding his thought, the head of state noted that the representatives of Washington are “extremely positive” about this idea.

Formerly Public News Service informedthat Yun Sok-yeol made a statement about his readiness to hold a summit with the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un. He noted that within the framework of the meeting, politicians need to start looking for solutions to pressing issues in order to get a practical result.
