On Victory Day, the Head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, visited a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Kurban Kurbanov. He congratulated the veteran on the holiday and thanked him for his contribution to the victory over Nazi Germany.

The veteran thanked the head of the region for his support.

“Helping veterans is our responsibility. We owe you for the rest of our lives! We hope that we will give you the same cake with the number 100,” Sergey Melikov noted, handing over the cake with the inscription dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory and gifts to the veteran.

This year, Kurban Magomedovich, a native of the village. Salta, Gunibsky district, celebrated his 96th birthday. When the war began, he was a 15-year-old teenager, and his application to volunteer for the front was refused by the district military registration and enlistment office. Despite this, the young man achieved his inclusion in the battalion of the local department of the NKVD, whose fighters maintained order in the rear.

Kurban Magomedovich took part in the battles on the territory of the North Caucasus, and at the end of the war he devoted his life to serving in the state security agencies.

Among the numerous awards of the veteran, including the medals “For Courage”, “For the Defense of the Caucasus”, “For the Victory over Germany” and “For Military Merit”.
