Scholz reiterated his readiness to talk with Putin

Chancellor Germany Olaf Scholz once again stated that he intends to continue the dialogue with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. His words are conveyed TASS with reference to the DPA agency.

“I will talk to him,” the chancellor said at a meeting with citizens in the village of Nutetal near Berlin. At the same time, Scholz clarified that he does not see a scenario in which Moscow would make some concessions regarding the conflict with Ukraine.

Previously, Scholz has repeatedly stated that he is ready to continue negotiations with Putin on the situation in Ukraine. Chancellor noted, that he has already negotiated with the Russian President in the past and will do so again in the future, as the situation requires it. However, the Chancellor noted that negotiations require a “decisive step on the part of Russia – withdrawal of troops.” According to Scholz, the Russian side is not ready for this now.

In June Olaf Scholz also saidthat he wants to maintain contacts with Vladimir Putin and intends to have a telephone conversation with him soon.

Moreover, in September he accused Putin has imperialist plans to “conquer Ukraine.”
