Chancellor Germany Olaf Scholz believes that “break the thread” of the dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin it is forbidden. The head of the German Cabinet in an interview with the Suddeutsche Zeitung urged to maintain communication, despite disagreements over Ukraine.
Scholz said that in the long term, after the end of hostilities in Ukraine, “at some point” it will be possible to resume interaction with the Russian Federation.
“However, this time is not now,” the chancellor stressed.
Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Scholz has called Putin several times. The last conversation took place in early December. Immediately after that, the head of the German government said that he considered it necessary to continue communication with the Russian leader.
Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that the Russian Federation wants to delay conflict in Ukraine, only emphasizes one of the points of view regarding the confrontation between the West and Russia.
