The lawyer of the former president of the Georgian state, Shalva Khachapuridze, said that the distribution of video recordings from surveillance cameras installed in the ward Mikhail Saakashviliis a criminal offence.
The other day the Special Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice Georgia published a video from Saakashvili’s chamber, calling his actions “simulative”.
In the footage, he lies in a hospital bed, smokes electronic cigarettes and watches TV. Other fragments show how he is emaciated and gets around with the help of a walker.
Commenting on the situation, Saakashvili’s lawyer stressed that the distribution of these videos without permission is a criminal offense, in other words, personal data was published without his consent.
According to Khachapuridze, the published recording was edited because the footage was taken at different times.
“You can see with the naked eye that this is a montage. The summer period, autumn period and winter period are connected and presented in the perspective in which it is beneficial to the leadership,” the lawyer said during a conversation with reporters.
As the Public News Service reported earlier, the Minister of Justice of Georgia Rati Bregadze stated that Sakaashvili was engaged in self-mutilation in order to complicate his health and be released.
