Russians in Finland opposed the closure of the border checkpoint

Living in Helsinki Russians held a rally at the Finnish parliament against the closure of checkpoints on the border with RF. Writes about this RIA News.

According to the agency, at 12.00 (13.00 Moscow time) no more than three hundred people participated in the event.

“The decision to close borders limits our right to meet our family members. It is necessary to find a more flexible solution,” one of the rally participants explained her position.

From November 18 Finland closed four checkpoints on the border with Russia – Vaalimaa, Nuijamaa, Imatra and Niirala. The restriction will be in effect until February 18, 2024. The country’s government has not ruled out the complete closure of borders between countries.
