Russian tourists are more active than in previous years in planning trips abroad during the New Year holidays. Analysts from the online hotel booking service Ostrovok came to this conclusion; their research was made available to RBC.
According to experts, Russians flocked en masse to one CIS country for the New Year. Thus, in particular, it became known that the capital ranks first in demand for winter holidays abroad this year Belarus Minsk. The average cost of a night during the holidays in this city is 9.4 thousand rubles – this is 36 percent more expensive than in 2022.
The second place in terms of the number of bookings is occupied by the popular Turkish city of Istanbul, where accommodation will cost travelers an average of 10.8 thousand rubles per day (+37 percent). On the third and fourth lines are two Belarusian cities – Brest with 5.7 thousand rubles per night (+43 percent) and Grodno (5.3 thousand rubles and +26 percent). A Thai resort also made it into the top five Pattaya (4.8 thousand rubles, +33 percent).
Experts emphasize that demand, relative to previous periods, continues to be redistributed towards the states of the post-Soviet space. “This year they account for 57 percent of all hotel bookings abroad – an increase of six percentage points compared to 2022 (51 percent) and several times compared to 2021 (7 percent),” they explained.
