Russian tourists are more active than in previous years in planning trips abroad during the New Year holidays. Analysts from the online hotel booking service Ostrovok came to this conclusion; their research was made available to RBC.

On the third and fourth lines are two Belarusian cities – Brest with 5.7 thousand rubles per night (+43 percent) and Grodno (5.3 thousand rubles and +26 percent). A Thai resort also made it into the top five Pattaya (4.8 thousand rubles, +33 percent).

Experts emphasize that demand, relative to previous periods, continues to be redistributed towards the states of the post-Soviet space. “This year they account for 57 percent of all hotel bookings abroad – an increase of six percentage points compared to 2022 (51 percent) and several times compared to 2021 (7 percent),” they explained.
