At the tournament UFC 282 Russian mixed style fighter Magomed Ankalaev tied the fight with Pole Jan Blachowicz. It was a title fight for the vacant light heavyweight belt.
According to the separate decision of the judges, a draw was appointed (48-47 in favor of Blachowicz, 48-46 in favor of Ankalaev). After the fight, Ankalaev stated that he won this fight and did not understand why he was not given the belt. Blachowicz agreed with him.
Ankalaev now has 19 wins, one loss and one draw. Blachowicz, 39, has 29 wins and nine losses. This is only the fifth time in UFC history that a title fight has been tied.
