According to bourgas.ru, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry confirms the recall of an employee of the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow, thus Russia has declared another Bulgarian diplomat persona non grata. This is an expected response from the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria reported.

Our diplomat must leave the territory of the Russian Federation within 72 hours.

Today, Russia, as a response, declared an employee of the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow persona non grata, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“On May 13, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Russian Federation Atanas Krastin was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was handed a note from the ministry declaring an employee of the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow persona non grata,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

“This measure is a response to the unmotivated decision of the Bulgarian side, taken in April, to declare the diplomat of the Russian Embassy in Sofia persona non grata.”

In early April, Russia declared two employees of the Bulgarian embassy in Moscow persona non grata in retaliation after the expulsion of two diplomats from the Russian embassy in Sofia in March.

Recall that today the Bulgarian Ambassador to the Russian Federation is in Bulgaria. However, for some reason, the Russian Federation is in no hurry to disavow its ambassador to Bulgaria.
