Retired FSB majors put on trial for millions in bribes

The Moscow Garrison Military Court began the trial of two retired majors FSB Sergei Bespalov And Evgeniy Sviridov, accused of extorting bribes from two businessmen to drop criminal cases. This is reported by “Kommersant”.

According to investigators, in 2014 they received one million dollars from a businessman, promising to resolve his problems with law enforcement agencies, but did nothing after transferring the money.

In 2019, security officers demanded the same amount from banker Ilya Kligman, who was involved in the case of the theft of seven billion rubles from the credit organization Agrosoyuz. He transferred half of the amount, but the security forces increased the charges against him, after which his lawyer filed a statement with law enforcement agencies.

In the summer of 2022, retired majors were detained and a criminal case was opened against them for corruption.
