Resumption of direct air traffic between Russian Federation and Cyprus is currently not discussed. Yuri Pilipson, Director of the Fourth European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, spoke about this in an interview with TASS.
“Currently, the resumption of direct flights with the Republic of Cyprus is not on the agenda, given the illegal sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russian carriers that closed the European skies for our aircraft,” the agency quotes him as saying.
The diplomat clarified that Cyprus fully complies with the restrictions set by the European Union, despite the fact that the Cypriot side itself has repeatedly reported significant losses suffered by the national economy due to the fall in the Russian tourist flow.
Earlier, as the Public News Service reported, the iFly aviation company decided to cancel the scheduled flights to Egypt for the period up to 19 December. This was stated in the press service of the company.
The company emphasized that they are looking for options for the export of passengers from Egypt, and also continue to work on agreeing an agreement with the Federal Air Transport Agency to resume flights to this state from December 20. It is noted that data on the return of funds due to canceled flights will be provided at the place of purchase of tours and air tickets.
