President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law that specifies the procedure for appointing and dismissing the head of the Accounts Chamber, as well as his deputy. The corresponding document was published on the official portal of legal information.
The law brought the procedures for appointing and removing the head of the Accounts Chamber in accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Under the new regulation, the chairman is now appointed Federation Counciland his deputy – the State Duma.
The law also makes improvements to the legal framework for regulating the activities of the Accounts Chamber. When compiling it, Russian and international experience in carrying out external state audit activities was taken into account.
Earlier, the Public News Service reported on the forecast for the level of Russian GDP in 2023, which was given by the auditor of the Accounts Chamber Dmitry Zaitsev. According to the expert, in the new year the Russian GDP decrease by 1%. He stressed that this forecast is in line with the estimates of the Ministry of Economic Development and does not imply the emergence of stressful situations for the country’s economy.
