Dozens of truck and bus carriers gathered this morning on the Tsarigradsko shosse in Sofia to protest.

In Plovdiv, early in the morning, all entrances to the city were blocked. Industry representatives say the government does not want to negotiate with them. Carriers expect to receive answers to their main demands – a 50% reduction in the excise tax on fuel, as well as a delay in the planned expansion of the toll system.

A few minutes after 08:00, a convoy of trucks and buses lined up on the Tsarigrad highway in Sofia. It is expected that a little later they will go to the Council of Ministers. The streets from Maria Luisa Boulevard to G.S. Rakovsky Boulevard will be blocked.

Buses and trucks that will not be able to enter the center will march in protest from the Tsarigradskoe highway to Botevgradskoe.

“Tensions continue to rise. Mr. Sabev and Mr. Karadzhov add fuel to the fire. After their yesterday’s speeches, self-organized protests are taking place in many cities, where such protests were not announced. The wave has begun, the protest will be large-scale today,” said Miltenova from the Confederation of Bus Carriers.

According to her, with a reduction in the excise tax on fuel and the rejection of bioadditives, fuel will become cheaper by 0.40-0.50 leva.

“We continue to demand the resignation of three ministers. You saw what happened when you tried to speak,” said Ilya Kostursky, board member of the Union of International Carriers.
