Procession of the “Immortal Regiment” took place in Sasovo

In Sasov, a procession of the “Immortal Regiment” took place. Thousands of descendants of victorious soldiers marched in a column along Molodtsov Avenue.

The movement of the column was accompanied by cars equipped with speakers, from which songs of the war years sounded throughout the journey.

Kindergarten No. 8 teacher Tatyana Glukhova said:

“In the photo is my grandfather Nikifor Filippovich Shchukin. He was called to the front in 1941. In the same year he died in the Smolensk region, in the village of Pavlovka. Didn’t even last a year. Was an ordinary. We remember him! We’re proud.”

Maria Morozova came to the holiday on May 9 with her daughters:

“Sergey Nikiforovich Morozov is our great-grandfather. Was a guard corporal. He served in the engineer-sapper 150th shock battalion on the Leningrad front. Awarded with medals and orders. I congratulate the Sasovites on this great holiday – Victory Day! May war never enter our lives again, and may the sky above our heads always be bright and clear!

Celebrations began on the square in front of the MCC at 12 noon. Participants of the festive parade were greeted by veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the head of the administration of the city of Sasovo Evgenia Rubtsova.

“Our city was not affected by hostilities, but the war did not bypass it. More than 35 thousand residents of the city of Sasovo and the Sasovsky district were called to the ek fronts. Of these, more than 10 thousand died, more than five thousand Sasovites were awarded military orders and medals, 18 Sasovites were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. One is a full holder of the Order of Glory. Their names are not subject to oblivion. As well as the names of those women and children who worked for days in the rear, helping the front. Let’s preserve the most valuable thing that was won in 1945 – peace, freedom and independence of our great country. May the Victory Day continue to serve as unity and give new strength in strengthening the power of Russia. From the bottom of my heart, a peaceful sky above our heads and new victories for the good of the Fatherland.
