It is possible that the price of bread in Bulgaria will immediately rise by 25%.

According to bourgas.ru, it is possible that the price of bread in Bulgaria will immediately rise by 25%. This was previously stated by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria – Ivan Khristanov.

“Our task is to make sure that the price of the crisis is not too high for the Bulgarians,” he added.

According to him, a better harvest of wheat, corn and fruit crops is expected this year than last year.

“However, exactly what the price of bread will be depends on government policy in the coming months, as well as market pressure,” Khristanov said.

According to him, the increase in prices for vegetables and fruits is possible, but it will not be sharp.

“There is a lot of noise in the market. On Easter and St. George’s Day there was hysteria about imported lamb. In fact, there were very few imports and Bulgarian producers were able to establish sales,” said the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.

He stated that currently most of the fruits and vegetables on the market are imported.

“We constantly monitor imports. Since mid-March, we have normalized prices for the main vegetables – tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage. In some weeks, even prices are lower than last year at this time,” Ivan Khristanov summed up.
