Initiative USA on the introduction of a ceiling on oil prices from Russia almost failed due to Poland. Warsaw refused to support it, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) columnists Andrew Duren and Lawrence Norman.

Washington and its allies initially agreed to set the bar at $60 a barrel. But Poland, together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, demanded to stop at $30.

Thus, 72 hours before the adoption of the initiative, Warsaw “put a spoke in the wheels” of the anti-Russian policy of the White House. According to the authors of the WSJ, a number of US officials called their Polish counterparts. And, in general, it worked. The Poles agreed to the plan on 2 December.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that the vulnerability of the US and NATO in the Suwalki corridor prevents Washington from increasing supplies weapons of the Armed Forces.
