Warsaw intends to develop a geospatial intelligence system that includes two orbital an optical observation satellite and a ground station for direct image reception. Poland signed a contract for the construction of the station, the creation and launch of satellites with European Airbus Defense and Space Corporation. This was reported by Asia Pacific Defense Reporter.
According to the publication, the contract with Airbus provides for the training of the Polish team, as well as the maintenance of orbital and ground systems. In addition, under the terms of the contract, the Polish side will have access to the network of reconnaissance satellites for remote sensing of the Earth Airbus Pleiades Neo.
Satellites are also expected to be launched from the European Space Center in Kourou in 2027. Pictures from them will be available only to Warsaw.
