Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin, who plays for the Washington Capitals team, has reduced the gap with Canadian Wayne Gretzky in the list of the best scorers in the NHL championships of all time to 87 goals.

In a game with the Buffalo Sabers as part of the regular season, Ovechkin managed to score another goal. Thus, the athlete, who occupies the second place in the ranking of the best snipers in the history of the NHL, brought the total number of goals scored to 807.

Wayne Gretzky tops the list with 894 goals in 1487 matches.

Recently Ovechkin was recognized as the first star of December in the National Hockey League (NHL). The corresponding message was published on the league website.
