2022 is an anniversary year for our gymnasium – it turned 110 years old. This is one of the first schools in Novosibirsk. Lyudmila Nikolaevna Kravtsova worked here for no less than half a century and for more than 40 years she was the permanent trade union leader.

Let’s remember how it all began. And it was like this: back in 1971, after graduating from the Novosibirsk Pedagogical School, Lyudmila Kravtsova came to one of the most famous schools not only in the city, but also outside it – number 10. The Tens team, which was then headed by Efim Naumovich Varshitsky, worked on the latest pedagogical methods, highly qualified teachers who were awarded the titles of “Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation”, “Excellent Worker of Public Education” taught here. Working here and now is not easy, but extremely interesting.
For 47 years of work as an elementary school teacher, Lyudmila Nikolaevna had ten graduations from elementary school to secondary school. Here is how graduate Irina Florentseva recalls her: “I always really liked the way she conducts her lessons – with feeling, with sense, with arrangement. She never lisped with us, but she was not too strict, she treated us like adults. Slender, well-groomed, graceful, always elegantly and tastefully dressed, with hair, manicure, high heels. For us, she was a standard and a model of intelligence and education.”
Lyudmila Nikolaevna skillfully built interaction with parents, which means that the upbringing of children was more efficient. The guys she taught know how to be friends, sympathize with others, help each other.
And since her youth, Lyudmila Nikolaevna has worldly wisdom. No wonder the school staff in 1979 elected her to the post of chairman of the primary trade union organization. She led the primary for 43 years! The main areas of work are quite standard – legal protection, labor protection, social partnership. But for Lyudmila Nikolaevna herself, behind these terms there are very personal qualities – trust, care, help.
A competent approach to the development and conclusion of a collective agreement allows you to increase the level of protection of trade union members. The trade union committee controls the fulfillment of the obligations assumed by the administration. Additional guarantees and benefits are constantly being introduced into the contract to create more favorable working and rest conditions for employees.
It is valuable that in our gymnasium both the administration and the trade union consider taking care of the teacher an important task. What questions did Lyudmila Nikolaevna not have to solve in tandem with the leaders!
Here are just a few examples. Rightly believing that the teacher should always look beautiful and well-groomed, masters are invited to school three times a week to do manicures. Our teachers can be admired! There are comfortable tables for checking notebooks, a comfortable sofa for relaxing, and even a massager for relieving stress from the back. Teachers employed in the USE are provided with a three-day paid vacation. Young teachers with small children are provided with places in preschool educational institutions. All this has a positive effect on the quality of the work of our team.
The trade union committee organizes celebrations of anniversaries, holidays. Moreover, the employees of the gymnasium are not divided into teachers and “others”. Technical staff, school canteen cooks and other employees are full members of the team. Lyudmila Nikolaevna always paid much attention to her colleagues who had gone on a well-deserved rest. They are provided financial assistance, help in solving various domestic issues.
In the difficult 1990s, the trade union committee organized the planting, weeding, and harvesting of potatoes, which helped them to survive. And New Year’s gifts for children and teachers were surprising – where did you get these scarce candies ?! Each member of the trade union organization felt care and attention.
Our team has strong traditions. The trade union committee, headed by Lyudmila Nikolaevna, constantly supported them. Before the start of the academic year, the team always organizes a trip out of town, where trainings are held, there are conversations about the main thing, there are moments of revelations. Experienced mentors are always attached to novice teachers. At meetings of the trade union committee, trainees and their wards talk about joint successes.
During the period of work as chairman of the trade union committee, Lyudmila Nikolaevna collaborated with six directors, solved all problems in a direct and open dialogue with the school administration.
Since she did not care who would lead the primary after her, she prepared a successor in advance. Having retired, she remained a member of the trade union, our main assistant and adviser. The team is sure that trade union traditions will be preserved and, of course, new tasks will arise!
