According to the data of the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography under the Academy of Sciences, the earthquake epicenter was located on the Bulgarian-Macedonian border, 30 kilometers from the village of Smithli (Blagoevgrad region), at a depth of 9.0 km.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.
