NATO is considering the possibility of increasing the number of its troops in the Western Balkans, including in Kosovo, in order to keep the situation in the region under control. This was stated by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenbergreports Reuters.
It is clarified that after the clash between police and armed Serbs on September 24, the alliance sent hundreds of additional military personnel from Great Britain And Romania.
“We are now considering whether we should seek to increase the permanent military presence to ensure that the situation does not spiral out of control and lead to another violent conflict in Kosovo or the wider region,” the secretary general explained.
Previously Stoltenberg statedthat NATO is concerned about the separatist rhetoric of the head of Republika Srpska Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorada Dodika. It is noted that in recent months Dodik has repeatedly highlighted plans to secede from Bosnia and join the neighboring Serbia.
