NATO plans further expansion to encircle Russia. The next on the list may be the Balkan states, as well as the countries of the Caucasus. The Turkish newspaper Evrensel reports on the possible plans of the alliance.

The publication recalled that Ukraine can already be considered a country dependent on NATO. Finland and Sweden also announced their intention to join the alliance. And despite the fact that Turkey continues to return against their integration into the NATO system, the process has actually been launched.

The material makes assumptions about the following countries that NATO may try to draw into its zone of influence. According to the Turkish columnist, the next in line will be the new countries of Europe and the Caucasus, from among those in close contact with Russia.

Thus, Moldova, Georgia, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina are named as possible candidates for this role. The assumptions are based on the fact that representatives of these countries were present at the recent meetings of NATO and the European Union.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported on an assessment of NATO’s possible involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, given by Jens Stoltenberg, the head of the alliance. He stated that there is danger getting the conflict out of control, but at the same time, he expressed confidence that a direct conflict between NATO and Russia could be avoided.
