Temperature in Moscow now corresponds to the weather on January 1st. The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center reported this in an interview with Lenta.ru Roman Vilfand. He also told residents of the capital region how long the first frost will last.
“The temperature now in St. Petersburg, and in Moscow, and in the Central Black Earth regions is not at all November or even December. Its climate corresponds to the temperature background that corresponds to the first ten days of January. It’s absolutely no joke to say that it’s January first weather now. This temperature background is averaged over the last 30 years on January 1, so the weather is significantly ahead of its development,” the forecaster explained.
According to the meteorologist, winter begins at the moment when there is a steady transition of the average daily temperature through zero degrees. At the same time, this does not mean that there will be no thaws, he noted.
Next Sunday, Monday and until Thursday inclusive, the average daily temperature will be in the range from minus 4 to minus 6 degrees. Night temperatures will be lower

Rainfall is expected early in the week. After the snow covers the frozen ground, it will not be so cold, added Roman Vilfand.
“The temperature background is already truly winter. But there is a high probability that at the end of the work week the temperature during the day will approach zero. This does not mean that the snow will melt, but it could be minus 1,” he concluded.
November 17 became knownthat kicksharing services in Moscow have suspended the rental of electric scooters due to cold weather.
