“Snow Doomsday” will come to Moscow this coming weekend, snowdrifts reached about 30 centimeters. This was stated by the leading specialist of the weather center “Phobos” Yevgeny Tishkovets.
He noted that such phenomena occur due to the exit of the Mediterranean cyclone and snow clouds. The forecaster warned that clouds are expected in the capital on Saturday night.
“Snow will fall almost non-stop Saturday and Sunday. As a result, 15-20 millimeters of precipitation, or about a third of the monthly norm, will fall on Moscow over the coming weekend, ”the specialist emphasized.
According to the expert, due to the blizzard, visibility will deteriorate to three kilometers.
“There is a high probability of significant disruptions in air traffic. It is better to refrain from traveling by private vehicle. In conditions of snowy weather, the temperature background is relatively mild and comfortable in winter,” Tishkovets said.
He added that the weather will be mild. So, on Saturday night the temperature will be about 10 degrees below zero, and during the day the thermometers will show from zero to minus five degrees. Sunday is expected to be minus 9 degrees below zero.
As the Public News Service wrote earlier, residents and guests of Moscow are waiting for snowfall from the evening of December 15 to the morning of December 16. There may also be a snowstorm and ice, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.
The department also advised drivers to be careful and not resort to sudden maneuvers.
